Shirley May “Polly” Barbour

CREEDMOOR- Mrs. Shirley May Barbour, 75, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2019.
Mrs. Barbour was born on July 11, 1944 to Carl and Bertha Hunt in High Point, NC. Shirley managed restaurants for over 25 years, and did a lot of volunteer work for Northern High School, Carrington Middle School and Eno Valley Elementary School making costumes and classroom items. As her children were growing up, she enjoyed having them and their friends over to visit. She enjoyed cooking, crafts, painting, and crossword puzzles. She loved to dance at the Moose Lodge and VFW, as well as going to 220 Seafood in Henderson, NC. Above all Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Barbour was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Bertha Hunt; brothers, Melvin, Brink, Edward, Coy Lee, and Fred Hunt; and her sister, Virginia Hunt. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Gilbert Barbour; step-son, Floyd Barbour (Jeannine); daughters, Donna Mikels (Mark), and Christy Arundale (Chuck); sister, Dorothy Carroll; grandchildren, Brian Stone, Trevor Barbour, Jessica Owens, Lauren Lyon, Bill Lyon, Bobbie Cooper, Brandon Mikels, Ashley Glenn, Charles Arundale Jr., Ryan Arundale, and Kaitlin Arundale; great-grandchildren, Laken Stone, Axel Owens and Caroline Glenn; and other loving family members.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend Jack O’Neal. Pallbearers will be Randy Tinker, Charles Carroll, David Carroll, Brandon Mikels, Charles Arundale Jr., and Ryan Arundale. Burial to follow at South Granville Memorial Gardens at 3040 Old NC 75, Stem, NC 27581.
