Alexander Polinsky, 78, of Durham, North Carolina peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. He was born on June 6, 1945 in Brooklyn, New York to the late David Polinsky and Sylvia Polinsky-Lav.
Mr. Polinsky graduated from NYU Law School and then began his career with the Department of Justice. A few years later he began working for the U.S. Senate where over his 30-year tenure he worked for many Senators writing many policies and laws.
Alexander was an intelligent man who voraciously read, which certainly helped him over the years to be successful in his work in the U.S. Senate. He also loved to travel both throughout the U.S. and around the world. Mr. Polinsky was a very kind man who was always willing to help anyone in need. He will be remembered as a loving husband, a courageous man and consummate professional who will be missed by the many lives he has touched.
Mr. Polinsky is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Elizabeth Lonsdale; sister, Esther Gardner (Dan) and niece, Deborah Gardner.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Maplewood Cemetery, 1621 Duke University Rd., Durham, NC 27701. Officiating will be Rabbi Robin Damsky.
