Alice Marie Baker

DURHAM Mrs. Alice Marie Dement Baker, 87, of Durham, died on Saturday, January 14, 2017.
Mrs. Baker was born in Franklinton but lived most of her life in Durham. She was the daughter of the late Richard Dement and Fletcher Ross Dement. She retired from Sears and was a member of the Sears Retiree Group. She attended Olive Branch Baptist Church. She loved sewing, quilting, crochet and reading. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Baker; two brothers, Lonnie and June Dement and two sisters, Fran Baker and Myrtle Arnold.
She is survived by her two sons, Randy Baker, Kenny Baker and wife, Paulette both of Durham; daughter, Sandra Duke and husband, Bennie of Rougemont; two sisters, Louise Dement Wheeler of Hartsville, S.C. and Faye Weaver and husband, Albert of Franklinton; eight grandchildren, Niki Baker, Leia Andrews (Grant LaRose), Randall Baker (Christina), Christopher Duke (Jennifer), Tiffney Cooley (Steven), Yvonne Young (Jeremie), Andrew Spray (Crystal), and Joetta Shepard (Roger); fourteen great-grandchildren, Zack Baker, Savana Andrews, Averee Andrews, Karsyn Andrews, Memphis Baker, Phoenix Baker, Jaxon Duke, Caden and Camron Duke, Jossalyn Duke, Trae Atherton, Charles Atherton, Drew Young and Emerson Spray.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Olive Branch Baptist Church. Rev. Tim Wheeler will officiate. Burial will be in Markham Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Randy Baker, 2809 Shaw Road, Durham, NC 27704.
