Allen “Buz” Michael Swartz, Sr.

CHATHAM CO.- Allen “Buz” Michael Swartz. Sr., 81, of Chapel Hill passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016. He was the son of the late Henry Gilbert Swartz and Eleanor Byrd Swartz. He lived most of his life in Durham. Buz was the 3rd generation co-owner of S. Swartz & Sons. He attended Durham Schools. Buz loved and cherished his grandchildren. He was an avid Duke Fan. He was preceded in death by his son, Allen Michael “Mike” Swartz, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara Johnson Swartz, son, Hank Swartz of Savannah, GA; daughter, Amy Swartz Klein (Matthew) of Greensboro; sister, Sheila S. Carter (Joe) of Raleigh; Daughter-in-law, Katrina Smoot Swartz of Hampstead; grandchildren, Caitlin Swartz, Ealer Swartz (Nate Payne), Madilyn Klein, Colby Cash and Cole Swartz; nephew, Joe Carter, III (Caryn); nieces, Liz Carter and Mary Hudson (Tommy), two great nieces and nephew.
Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Carolina Meadows Auditorium, 100 Whippoorwill Lane, Chapel Hill, NC. Reception following the service.
