Allen Michael “Mike” Swartz, Jr.

DURHAM Allen Michael “Mike” Swartz, Jr., 57 of Hampstead, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2015, at home.Mike is survived by his wife, Katrina Smoot Swartz of Hampstead; his daughters, Caitlin Swartz, and Ealer Swartz, and son-in-law Nathan Payne; parents, Allen “Buz” and Barbara Swartz of Durham; his brother, Hank Swartz, and sister Amy Swartz Klein, brother-in-law Matthew Klein; nephews Colby Cash and Cole Swartz; and niece Madilyn Klein. Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Eleanor Swartz of Durham, NC.Mike was born and raised in Durham, NC. He was an avid music lover and enjoyed cheering on his Green Bay Packers. Mike loved spending time with his family at the coast and fishing and boating on the beautiful Carolina beaches. Mike worked for S. Swartz and Sons before co-founding Orange Recycling Services Inc. and recently retired. He worked for many years at the Durham Bulls as manager of Concessions.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at 1 p.m. at Blacknall Presbyterian Church, 1902 Perry Street, Durham, NC 27705. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Durham Rescue Mission.
