Annie Zimmerman

Annie Giltman Zimmerman, age 48, of Gibsonville, NC passed away on Sunday February 27, 2022 at Duke University Hospital.

Annie is predeceased by her parents, Sylvan and Deborah Giltman and her husband, Jay Zimmerman. She is survived by her sister, Dori; nephew, Daniel; her cats Piglet and Winnie; and many friends. Annie grew up in Margate, NJ and graduated from Atlantic City High School in Atlantic City, NJ in 1992. She attended Greensboro College and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She briefly worked as an elementary school teacher in both private and public schools in Guilford County.

She was a talented pianist, actress, and loved to listen to and sing along to Broadway show tunes, as well as her idol Barbra Streisand. Annie enjoyed theater and cherished the memories of attending many Broadway shows, as well as acting in community theater. She helped to support theater education for differently abled people and worked as a prop mistress at several community theaters in the Greensboro and Raleigh areas. Her quick wit, infectious laughter, and style made creating friendships easy and she enjoyed spending time with those friends and appreciated all who helped her when she needed support and care due to her numerous chronic illnesses.

A graveside service will be held 2:30 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2022 at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rabbi Matt Soffer officiating. (3901 Forest Lawn Dr, Greensboro, NC 27455 Section 13)  A celebration of life will be planned for a future date.
