DURHAM Mr. Anthony Edwin “Tony” Boyd, 58, of Durham, died on Wednesday, June 7, 2017.
Mr. Boyd was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, son of the late Alton Edwin Boyd and Mildred Lucille Clayton. He served in the U. S. Marine Corp and was a former employee of TradeMark Properties in maintenance. He was a member of the American Legion Post 7 and served as Sergeant of Arms and was also a Mason. He was a member of the Patriot Guard in Mississippi where he and Sandy lived for 2 years. He also was a Volunteer Firefighter for Bethesda Fire Department and annually he would play Santa Clause at the Murdoch Center. Mr. Boyd loved his Harley. He had a shining personality and was always by your side and loved to joke and was a man who was willing to help anyone at any time. He will be remembered as a loving husband, brother and friend who will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Boyd; two sisters, Jane Self and husband, Bill and Delinda Farmer and husband, Terry; brother, Earl Boyd and wife, Cindy; niece, Ginger Mullins and her children, Holland and Hudson; nephew, Bryan Self and best friend, Brother Mark Ragan and numerous other loving family members
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Terry Farmer will officiate.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m., before the service at the funeral home. Flowers are acceptable or donations can be made to the Duke Cancer Institute, 710 W. Main Street, Suite 200, Durham NC 27701. Online condolences can be made to hudsonfuneralhome.com.
