Arnold David Burk

CHAPEL HILL- Dr. Arnold David Burk, 85, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2017 at home in Chapel Hill, NC, surrounded by family and loved ones.  Mr. Burk was the loving husband of Judith (Sandler) Burk (deceased) and Kathy Soule Burk. He is survived by his second wife, Kathy Burk, sons Bernard Burk (Amy Kaufman Burk) and David Burk (Rebekah Kaplan), as well as grandchildren Anschel, Jared, Ariela, Ezra and Emmet Burk. He grew up speaking Yiddish in Brooklyn, performing with Molly Picon in the Yiddish theater.  Awarded a full scholarship to Columbia College and Law School, he was the first attorney at United Artists.  He had a long career at Hollywood Studios (UA, Paramount Pictures), and in private legal practice for many prominent clients in entertainment, including Milos Forman, Sherwood Schwartz, John Rich, George Miller and Michael Mann.  He practiced for 20 years at Gang, Tyre, Ramer and Brown in Los Angeles, a time he characterized as the happiest of his professional life. His life was changed by the kindness of others, and he returned that with unparalleled generosity and humor.  One of the great runs of all time.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, 2017 at Chapel Hill Kehillah Cemetery, 4826 Trenton Rd, Chapel Hill, NC 27517. Officiating will be Rabbi Jen Feldman.
