Aubrey Lee Mickey Lassiter

LASSITERDURHAM Aubrey Lee “Mickey” Lassiter, 74, departed this life to be with his Lord on Tuesday, June 22, 2010. He was born on May 17 1936 in Edenton, NC to the late Robert Franklin and Rado Smith Lassiter. He also was preceded in death by his sisters, Connie Fay, Rosaline and Geraldine Lassiter and a brother, James Lassiter.Mickey was educated in Edenton schools and earned his Associate Degree at Vance-Granville Community College. He served in the U. S. Air Force almost 9 years, and was a member of the Honor Guard. He retired in 1995 from the U. S. Army Research office after 29 years of service. He moved to Durham where he met and married Nancy Louise Lee. They were blessed with 45 wonderful years of marriage. Mickey was a devoted husband, daddy and granddaddy and had a strong love for his family. His love of laugh, sense of humor, and quick wit has created lasting memories for his family and friends. He was a faithful member of Olive Branch Baptist Church where he served the Lord as Deacon on various committees, and was a member of the Roaring Lambs Sunday School Class.He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Lynn Stephenson (Mickey) of Creedmoor; Karen Spruill (Dallas) of Wake Forest, and Michelle Lassiter of Raleigh; three brothers, Murrell Smith, Donnie Lassiter and Edsel Lassiter, and six grandchildren, David, Sean and Lauren Stephenson and Sam, Erica and Emily Spruill.A service to celebrate his life will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2010 at Olive Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Wheeler officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.The family would like to thank Dr. Lake Morrison and his coordinators and Dr. Bruce Peyser and his staff at Duke Medical Center as well as Lee Canady with Lincare and the staff at Wake County Hospice.Flowers are acceptable or you may make a donation to Mickey’s memory to Olive Branch Baptist Church, 123 Olive Branch Road, Durham, NC 27703.
