Ava Lorraine Holder

DURHAM-Mrs. Ava Lorraine Maness Holder, 81, of Durham passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Jesse I. Maness and Ethel Frances Moore Maness. Mrs. Holder was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church and also taught Sunday School Class. She was a graduate of Oak Grove High School. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Holder loved her Lord Jesus Christ and her church family.  She was an avid  gardener and excellent cook.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, George William Pendergrast, James Edgar Holder, one daughter, Debra Lorraine Sellars, three sisters and eight brothers.

She is survived by three sons, Terry Pendergrast  wife Libby from Hillsborough;  David Joseph Pendergrast  wife Jane from Chapel Hill;  Doug Holder wife Norma from Durham; three daughters, Joyce Thomas husband James from Marshville; Betty Hicks husband Raymond from Oxford; Vicky Lee husband Tony, Sr. from Raleigh; one sister, Patricia Sue Osborne from Fayetteville; 17 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Olive Branch Baptist Church. Rev. Tim Wheeler and Rev. Johnny Hewett will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Craig Brown, Dylan Pendergrast, Brent Wagoner, Jay Holder, Scott Holder and Chad Coppedge. Honorary pallbearer will be Jeremy Holder.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Olive Branch Baptist Church and other times at the home.
