Barbara Hackney Smith

SMITHDURHAM Mrs. Barbara Hackney Smith, 73, a former resident of Durham, died in Eustis, Florida on Saturday, February 5, 2011. She had lived Durham until 2007, before moving to Eustis Florida. She was a native of Durham, the daughter of the late James Edward Lassiter and Ethel Pauline Browning Lassiter. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her one daughter, Debbie Wilkerson of Stem; sons, Mark Hackney (Linda) of Austin, Tex., David Smith (Tonya) of Eustis, Fla., Bobby Smith, Jr. of Eustis, Fla., Ricky Smith (Pam) of Umatilla, Fla., and Timmy Smith (Misty) of Leesburg, Fla.; brothers, Jimmy Lassiter (Rosamae), Jerry Lassiter (Teresa), Billy Lassiter (Becky) and Tony Lassiter all of Durham; two sisters, Dianna Utley and Theresa Suggs both of Durham; grandchildren, Stephanie Shaw, Kacey Ladd, Shannon Jenkins, Christina Wilkerson, Natasha Wilkerson, Stephanie Smith, Marcus Smith and 12 great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Flowers are acceptable.
