Durham – Barbara Ann Keever Pettus, 80, of Durham, died June 6, 2016 at Brookdale Senior Living Center in Durham.
Ann was born in Cleveland County to the late George Cebe Keever and Bertha May Cline Keever on August 16, 1935. She was married to the late Donald Pettus, whom she considered the love of her life. She retired as a Secretary from Brame Specialty Company, and was a member of Durham Memorial Baptist Church but more recently attended Community United Methodist Church in Butner, NC.
Ann is survived by her son, George Hugh Pettus and his wife Lisa, two daughters, Donna Carpenter and her husband Gerald, and Janie Berges and her husband Danny; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Robert Keever and sisters Muriel Fowler and Jean Wall.
Ann enjoyed reading, traveling and going to the beach with her late husband Donald. In their earlier years, she and Don loved spending time at the lake with their children, skiing and enjoying time grilling and fishing together. She loved cooking and having all the family at the house to visit. Holidays were a very special time for her, and she cherished having all the family together to share in gratitude for all the blessings of life. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving individual not only to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but to her many friends, and nieces and nephews. She touched many lives with her outgoing personality and thoughtfulness.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 12 at 2:00 pm at Community United Methodist Church in Butner, officiated by Rev. Jessie Larkins and Rev. Brock Meyer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community UMC, 507 West E Street, Butner, NC 27509
