Bertha Lee Leonard Ferrell

DURHAM Mrs. Bertha Lee Leonard Ferrell, 94, of Durham, died on Tuesday, May 07, 2013.Mrs. Ferrell was born in Rocky Mount, N. C. to the late Frank Ellis Leonard and Waverly Lee Taylor Leonard. She was the co-owner of LeDawn’s Clothing Store. She was a member of Lowes Grove Baptist Church for 46 years and taught the Bertha Ferrell Sunday School Class for many years. She was a founding member of the Durham Association of Retarded Citizens (ARC). In her spare time she loved to quilt and hunt for antiques.She is survived by her two sons, Excell O. Ferrell III and wife, Paula of Greensboro and Leonard W. Ferrell of Durham; one daughter, Jean Ferrell Styles of Durham; brother, Julian F. Leonard; sister, Irene Leonard Riley of Wilson; four grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lowes Grove Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Forest Gale. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.
