Betty Sewell Sorrell

Betty Frances Sewell Sorrell, 96, was born on January 7, 1928, in Durham, North Carolina. She was the only child of Benjamin Franklin Sewell and Alice Daves Sewell. Betty became an LPN in 1955 and her career spanned many opportunities, including Watts Hospital, doctor’s offices, Blue Cross Blue Shield, private duty, and her last job at Hillcrest Convalescent Center where she retired a month before her 80^th birthday. She absolutely loved nursing.

She married William Burl Sorrell in 1947 and had five sons. He predeceased her in 1998. She is survived by her five sons; Bill Jr., Steve, Robin (Robin), Phillip (Tammy) and Mark (Rhonda); grandchildren, Emily (Chris), Ben (Erin), Liz, Josh (Courtney), Chris, Michael (Megan), Courtney (Keith), John (Kristen), Lee (Claire), Danny, Katie, Luke, Chloe (Jason), and Cassie; great-grandchildren, Abbie, Kinsey, Bodie, Eli, Elise, Julia, Lily, Sophie, Mitchell, Hannah, Rebekah, Isaac, Eve, Lucy, and Finn. 

Betty loved her church (Page Road Baptist) and participated as long as she was able. She also loved yard work, family gatherings and dearly loved all the pets she ever had including her current cat, Jack. She will be deeply missed. The family would like to thank Transitions lifecare for their kind services, the caregivers that helped the last years, friends and neighbors who would visit and bring a treat.
