DURHAM Mr. Billy Watkins, 75, of Durham, died on Tuesday, January 30, 2018.
Mr. Watkins was native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late Lonnie Watkins and Virginia Lee Young Watkins Hall. Bill owned and operated Watkins Signs. He was former member of Guess Road Baptist Church. Billy worked for many years at the fair selling cotton candy and guessing peoples’ height and weight. He loved to play the piano and loved airplanes and at one time he flew them. Billy was a big fan of Jerry Lee Lewis. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Homer and Haywood Watkins.
He is survived by his sons, Billy Todd Watkins, Jerry Watkins and Michael Watkins; daughters, Christie Horn, Wanda Gaston and Crystal Watkins; sister, Janice Peacock; brother, Tommy Watkins; nieces, Tiffany and April Peacock; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and his beloved dogs, Fluffy and Runt
Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Kimberlie Craddock will officiate.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., before the service at Hudson Funeral Home.
