Blanche Duncan Watkins, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 3, 2010, after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Selma, N.C., the daughter of the late Lizzie and John Sellers. For the last 14 years she has been the loving wife of Paul W. Watkins. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Duncan and all of her brothers and sisters, except one sister, Jo Ann Hunnecutt of Garner. In addition to her husband, Paul, left to cherish her memory are daughter, Teresa Conatser and husband, Curtis of Irving , Texas; son, Patrick Duncan and wife, Launa, of Durham. Also two step-daughters, Vicki Brunetto and husband, Joe, of Columbia, S.C., Valerie Loftin and husband, Robert of Greensboro. She has one granddaughter and one grandson, and two great-grandchildren of Irving, Texas and five step-grandsons and one nephew. She was a loving Christian lady who loved her Lord and family with all her heart. She and her first husband were instrumental in helping start the Wilmington Bible Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Elder Earl White and missionary Gil Vargas. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m., before the service at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Greenlawn Memorial Park in Wilmington, officiated by Mr. Curtis Conatser. The family would like to express our thanks to the many friends and church members for their compassion and caring during this time. Arrangements are being handled by Hudson Funeral Home in Durham.
