DURHAM Mr. Bobby Ray Proctor, Sr., 80, a former resident of Durham, died on Friday, January 03, 2014. He had been living in Nashville, NC for the past seven years.
Mr. Proctor was born in Durham to the late Richard Proctor and Lela Crabtree Pettigrew. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and the Korean War. He was a retired Mechanic. He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Elm City and a former member of the American Legion Post 7. He built and raced Race Cars and Go-Carts. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to ride Harleys and rode until he was 78 years old.
He is survived by his lifelong companion, Kathleen Burgess; two sons, Bobby Proctor Jr. and wife, Patricia of Creedmoor, Steve Proctor of Butner; two daughters, Karen Byrd of Henderson and Gayle Clark of Oxford; closest friends, Mike and Tammy Wall; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Dr. Harry Fowler will officiate. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers are acceptable.
