Bozidar Ivanov Popov

Bozidar “Bob” Popov passed away Thursday September 10, 2020 in Durham, NC with his loving wife of 36 years by his side.

Bob was born on January 19, 1947 to the late Ivan and Stefana Popov in Sofia, Bulgaria.

He came to America in 1972 as a political refugee looking for greater opportunity. He was strong, determined and hard working.

A dedicated family man, Bob loved to provide for his family and do everything possible to support them. He owned a trucking company in Coal Grove, OH before moving to Durham, NC in retirement.

He is survived by his wife Genka Popov, daughter Snejina Popov, son Teodor Popov, daughter-in-law Stefanie Popov and grand-daughter Fiona Popov, who all brought him so much joy.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association in Bob’s memory.

A funeral service will beheld on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Officiating will be Reverend Hugh O’Shields. Burial to follow at Maplewood Cemetery.

Hudson Funeral Home will be observing social distancing for visitation as well as the funeral service, and asks everyone in attendance to wear a mask when entering the building.
