CALEB ANDREW STOCKING
Caleb Andrew Stocking, 21, of Durham, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2016.
Caleb had currently been enrolled as a junior in the Business school at East Carolina University. Prior to attending ECU, he was a 2013 graduate of Northern Durham High School, where he excelled in football as a wide receiver and punter. He was proud to be a Knight and was well known, all four years, by his jersey number 82. He was selected All Conference and All Area, as well as voted as MVP Special Teams by his teammates. His other proud accomplishments were playing baseball for NHS, and reaching the level of Eagle Scout.
He loved attending Gorman Baptist Church, and was a selfless friend, brother, and son. This act of selfness showed itself after his sudden passing, when was revealed that Caleb was a registered organ donor. His gift of life has already given hope and life to many others.
He is survived by his father, Greg Stocking and wife, Wendy, and brother, Joshua Paul Stocking; his mother, Natalie Teer Riggsbee and husband Chad, and sister, Carris Nichole Riggsbee; as well as a host of a loving and extended family.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 1st at 11am at Gorman Baptist Church in Durham. Dr. C.J. Bordeaux and Rev Hugh O’Shields will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Alex Stocking, Amos Tilley, Casey Stocking, Dillan Fletcher, Dillon Floyd, and Nathan Teer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Coach RJ Wilson, Coach Todd Spell, Coach Chad Walcott, Gilbert Hannah Jr, and Dale Floyd.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-9 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home, 211 S Miami Blvd, Durham, NC 27703 and other times at the homes of his parents. In lieu of flowers, as a gesture of Caleb’s gift of life, donations may be made to Carolina Donor Services, Attn: Kirk Mizelle, CFO, 909 E.
