Carl Larry Billings

DURHAM – Mr. Carl Larry Billings, 75, of Durham, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021.

Mr. Billings was born in Durham County, the son of the late Carl and Vera Billings.  Mr. Billings was a member of the First Baptist Church of Durham where he first started attending as a child.  He taught Sunday School at the First Baptist Church for many years and loved spending time with his Sunday School class.  He retired from Liggett and Myers Tobacco Company.  He enjoyed playing tennis and taking care of his and others’ lawns – he was very good at what he did.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and he loved gathering together for holidays and birthdays.  He will be remembered as a man that had a deep knowledge of the Bible, and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  Larry will be deeply missed by his family and everyone who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Janet Billings.

Larry is survived by his son, Craig Billings of Durham; daughter, Renee Cramer (David) of Mebane; sister, Judy Hill of Rougemont; eight grandchildren, Lee Cramer (Lauren), Ashley Webster (Nate), Laura Cramer, Christian Cramer, Austin Cramer, Megan Weikle (Kevin), Miranda Boone (Cody), and Morgan Billings, as well as 12 great-grandchildren, other loving family members, and friends.

Services will be held on Monday, September 20th, at 11:00am at First Baptist Church in Durham with Dr. Andrew Davis, Rev. Tom Geers, and Rev. Andy Winn officiating, followed by burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Durham. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church.
