Carol Ann Black Addison, 74, of Durham passed away on April 26, 2025, at Duke Hock Family Pavilion with her family by her side. Mrs. Addison was born on January 8, 1951, in Durham, NC to the late Wilson and Betsy Powell Black.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Addison is preceded in death by husbands Earl Strickland and Darrell Addison.
Mrs. Addison survived by her brothers, David Black and wife Grace and Barry Black and wife Candy; sister, Beth Cox, all of Durham; nieces, Whitney Pennell and husband Nathan, Meredith Higgins and husband Jesse; great nephews, Easton and Cameron Pennell and Connor Higgins; great niece, Emma Higgins; special friend, Rick Harper, and her pet “Buddy”.
Ann was a lifelong resident of the Bethesda community in Durham. A woman of deep faith, she loved the Lord and was a devoted reader of the Bible. She attended Bethesda Baptist Church. Ann cherished her family and treasured every moment spent with them. She also found great joy in the outdoors, especially in planting and caring for her flowers. An enthusiastic ACC sports fan, Ann cheered for Carolina, Duke, and NC State with equal passion.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Duke Hock Family Pavilion for their loving and compassionate care during her short stay there.
