Charles Bert Piekaar

DURHAM Mr. Charles “Bert” Piekaar, 54, of 6923 Leesville Road, died on Tuesday, September 25, 2012.Mr. Piekaar was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late Charles Bertis Piekaar and Ruby Lee Sykes Piekaar. He was employed with Durham Academy for 35 years as a Maintenance Foreman. He was a member of Shady Grove Free Will Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. He was a Boy Scout Leader and was very active in the Lynn’s Crossroads Ruritan Club. He loved fishing, gardening, and the outdoors.He is survived by his wife, Joyce Piekaar; son, Michael Piekaar of Durham; daughter, Misty Piekaar of Durham; sister, Tina Radford of Durham; nephew, Dylan Radford and mother, Ruby Hoffman of Durham.Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Pastor Frank Rice. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Ruby Hoffman, 1015 Virgil Road.
