Charles "Les" Chappell

Charles "Les" Chappell, 71, of Durham, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.  A lifetime resident of Durham, N.C. he was born on April 29, 1952 to Charlie Chappel, Jr. and Ethel Chappell.

Mr. Chappel attended Rose of Sharon Baptist Church in his youth.  In August of 2023 he dedicated his life to Jesus Christ.  Les in his younger years worked at Chapel Hill Tire, Midas Muffler and in the Tobacco Factory until he was severely injured in an automobile accident that forever changed his life.  After several years of therapy and determination he was able to begin helping his mother and take care of her.

Les enjoyed going to car shows, hanging around "The Tire Store" and going to the beach which included overnight pier fishing.  Most of all he enjoyed being able to spend time with his mother.

Mr. Chappell will be remembered as an outgoing man whose strength will always be admired.  He will be missed by everyone blessed to have known him.

Les is preceded in death by his father.  He is survived by his loving mother, Ethel Chappell and numerous close friends.

A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery, 4109 Guess Rd., Durham, NC 27712.  Rev. Jeffrey McCarthy will officiate.
