Charles Franklin “Frankie” Berry

WAKE CO. Charles Franklin” Frankie” Berry, 72, of Wake County passed away in his home, his way with his wife of 50 years on Thursday, June 23, 2016. He was the son of the late Edward Campbell Berry, Jr. and Zetta Patsy Walton Berry. Frankie lived in Wake Co. since he was 15 years old. He was an attendant of Good Hope Baptist Church. Frankie taught Boys Sunday School Class at Lowes Grove Church, was in the Choir and also coached boys youth and ladies softball teams at Lowes Grove Church. Frankie played in the band “The Wanderers”, he was also in the National Guard. He loved riding on his Golf Cart, tractors and 4-wheelers with his family. He was preceded in death by his twin sons, Ronald Wayne Berry and Donald Walton Berry, brother Donald Walton Berry.
Frankie is survived by his wife, Brenda Berry; daughters, Catrin Berry Giles (Jay) of Winston Salem; Melissa Berry Evans (Thomas) of Durham; brothers, Edward Campbell Berry III (Frances) of Hillsborough; grandchildren, Spencer Franklin Berry, Johnny Matthew Smith, Jesse Steel Smith, James Alan Giles III and Lillian Michelle Giles; great-grandchild, Scott Franklin Berry, and multiple nieces and nephews.
Frankie worked for Public Service Gas Company for forty seven years as a Field Measurement Engineer. He was committed to hard work in every aspect of life. He was patient and he had great respect for his family. He loved music, farm life and traveling with his wife. Frankie taught his girls and grandkids how to be independent. He was tough as nails and fought till the very end. Frankie will be missed by all. We will love you forever.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 11:00a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Pastor Josh Franklin will officiate. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 27, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Flowers are acceptable. Donations can be made to the March of Dimes. Online condolences can be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com.
