DURHAM- Mr. Chester Floyd Perkins, 76, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019.Mr. Perkins was born February 9, 1943 to Chester and Dollie Mae Perkins in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Floyd was a truck driver for over 30 years and retired from Couch Oil Company. Mr. Perkins proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He loved the mountains, fishing, walking nature trails, and enjoying the outdoors. Floyd was well known in the community, never met a stranger and was always eager to share a joke. He loved hanging out with his friends at Bull City Radiator. Floyd was kind hearted and loved his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, sibling, and friend. Floyd would want everyone to know, “don’t take any wooden nickels”.Mr. Perkins is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Dollie Mae Perkins; sister-in-law, Patsy Perkins.Mr. Perkins is survived by his wife of 26 years, Ann Perkins; daughter, Juliana Perkins Beaulieu (Joshua); son, Gregory Todd Perkins Jackson; stepdaughter, Christina Crabtree (Ed); brothers, Larry Perkins, and Steve Perkins; sister, Susan Perkins; grandchildren, Lexi Beaulieu, Casey Crabtree, Owen Crabtree, Alyssa Crabtree, Tabi Crabtree; numerous nieces and nephews.A visitation will be held Friday, May 10, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Sr. Pastor Bob Sipper. Pallbearers will be Corky Payne, Reid Cooper, Herbert Utley, and Joshua Beaulieu. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Clayton, Lee Clayton, Red Eubanks, Ryan Frye, and Ronnie Powers, III. Burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.Flowers are acceptable.
