Christine Murray Hayes

DURHAM Mrs. Helen “Christine” Murray Hayes, 87, a former resident of Durham, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016 in Hampton, Virginia.
Mrs. Hayes was born in Marlboro County, SC, the daughter of the late Jack Christopher Murray and Ethel Ruby Jones Murray. She retired after many years as Office Manager and Chiropractic Assistant from Davis Chiropractic. She was a member of the American Business Woman’s Association and a charter member of the Durham Ceramic Guild. Chris was a member of Yates Baptist Church for 30 years, where she sang in the choir and later a member of Gorman Baptist Church and the Summerlin Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph V. Hayes, Jr. and a brother, Jack C. “Buddy” Murray, Jr.
She is survived by her sons, Mark Anthony Hayes and wife, Regina of Hampton, VA and Brett Hayes and wife, Karyn of Yorktown,VA; grandchildren, Morgan Ashley Hayes and Hunter Christine Hayes, Chelsie Alorra Nelson Burns and Christopher Tyler Nelson; brothers, James T. Murray and wife, Nancy of Land of Lakes, FL; Edward J. Murray and wife, Margret of Jacksonville, FL; sisters, Betty Jean Marshall and husband, Richard of Norfolk, VA; Yvonne Godley and husband, Ed of Timberlake, NC; Carol Pearce and husband, Ron of Clayton, NC; sister-in-law, Jean Murray of Durham; Aunt, Doris Murray of Durham and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 1, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Hudson Funeral Home, Durham, NC.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 11:00am at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
