Christopher Lee Oakley

December 14, 1959 — August 10, 2013

DURHAM- Christopher Lee Oakley Sr., 53, of Durham died on Saturday, August 10, 2013. He was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late Robert  Oakley. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and also a score keeper for the athletic games for Fellowship Baptist Academy and he was an avid supporter of Village Lanes Bowling Center Youth Program. Mr. Oakley was also a gun and knife collector, loved his children, supported and attended all of their activities and games. He was a machine maintenance technician for American Tobacco.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Strombeck Oakley, one son, Christopher Lee Oakley, Jr. of Durham; one daughter, Kristina Gail Oakley of Durham;  Mother, Jean H. Dority of Wake Forest; one sister, Kim Oakley Woodrow (Randy) of Boone, NC, father-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Robert L. Strombeck, Sr., brother-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Robby Strombeck, Jr., Mr. & Mrs. Kenny Strombeck, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Harward, nieces and nephews, Mason Woodrow, Kayla and Drew Harward, Lindsay, Emily and Cameron Strombeck, Hailey, Grant and Candance Strombeck.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church. Dr. Rick Finley and Dr. Roger Wall will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Robby Strombeck, Jr., Kenny Strombeck, Mark Harward, Dennis Long, Johnny Pickard, Scott Currin, Jack Ellis, and Ray Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be Mason Woodrow, Drew Harward, Daniel Johnson and Grant  Strombeck.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at 3300 Redgate Dr.  Flowers are acceptable or donations can be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, 515 Southerland St., Durham, NC 27703.
