Clara Alice Medlin Townsend

June 5, 1935 — September 3, 2013

BUTNER  Mrs. Clara Alice King Medlin Townsend, 78, of  Butner, died on Tuesday, September 3, 2013.

Mrs. Townsend was born in Wake County, to the late Percy and Bilyon Mitchell King. She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Fashion Tabernacle in Durham.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Townsend, one sister, Barbara Perry, and one brother Percy Archie King.

She is survived by her first husband, Fleming Medlin; two sons, Ricky Medlin of Oxford; Wayne Townsend of Timberlake; three daughters, Alice Murphy of Oxford, Marie Driver of Murfreesboro; Wanda Townsend Chase of Durham; four brothers, John King, Elbert King, Thomas King and Sidney King; three sisters, Ida Raybon, Louise Perry and Linda Guthrie; six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Bill Lawrence. Burial will be in the South Granville Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Ricky Medlin, Tyler Medlin, Scott Strickland, Randy Hall, Mike Pope and Brandon Boyd.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 1 to 2 p.m., before the service at Hudson Funeral Home.  Flowers are acceptable or donations can be made to the Community HomeCare and Hospice, 152 Zeb Robinson Rd, Henderson, NC 27537. Online condolences may be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com.
