Clarence E. Goforth, Jr.

DURHAM Mr. Clarence E. Goforth, Jr., age 88, of 221 Olive Branch Road, died on Friday, March 1, 2013.He was born in Orange County, the son of the late Clarence E. Goforth Sr. and Madgie Burke Goforth. He served his country during World War II in the European theater with the 7th Armored Division, where he earned a Combat Infantryman Badge and 4 battle stars on his ribbon. One of the stars was for the Battle of the Bulge. He retired after 33 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Crabtree Goforth.He is survived by his son, Clarence E. (Eddie) Goforth III of the home; stepson, J. D. Cash Jr. of Myrtle Beach; sister, Lucille Cullingford of Monroe and numerous nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Tim Wheeler. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.The family will receive friends on Monday from 12 to 1 p.m., before the service at the funeral home.
