DURHAM- Clifford Lee Oakley, Jr. 68, of Durham died on Saturday, February 21, 2015. He was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late Clifford Lee Oakley, Sr. and Frances Josephine Stephenson Oakley. He retired from Watson Electric. He loved to fish and was an avid Tarheel fan. Mr. Oakley was a member of Liberty Baptist Church for over forty five years.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty three years, Ruby Russ Oakley, one brother, Alfred J. Oakley of Perry, Georgia; one sister, Bonnie Arnold of Youngsville, Aunt Ruth Smith, several nephews and nieces he highly favored.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Jack Cox and Rev. Scott Gray will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Chris Capps, Sam Bellamy, Danny Mayton, Robert Russ, Jr., Dwayne Russ and Todd Stinagle. Honorary pallbearer will be Gary McCorkle.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Danny and Cheryl Mayton in Timberlake. Flowers are acceptable. Online condolences can be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com.
