Clifton Bart “C.B.” Whicker, Sr.

TIMBERLAKE Mr. Clifton “Bart” Whicker, Sr., 73, of 237 Waterfront Lane, died on Monday, August 11, 2014.
Mr. Whicker was born in Philadelphia and had lived most of his life in Durham. He was the son of the late James Clyde Whicker and Katherine Rogers Whicker. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the 82nd Airborne and 325th Infantry. Also during his service he was a U. S. Paratrooper, Swift Strike II & III attached to the 101st Screaming Eagles, Brigade Educational NCO, Recon (Pathfinder). He was in the Dominican Republic (San Domingo) from April 1965 to October 1965 and had top secret clearance (CODE). He was in the Lyndon B. Johnson Inaugural parade. He retired as President of Eagle Water Systems of the Triangle. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. He loved hunting and boating. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Charlotte Goke and Nancy Priester.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sondra Pierce Whicker; son, Clifton Bart Whicker, Jr. and wife Tina of Hillsborough; daughter, Kimberly Grinstead and husband, Bryan of Rougemont; brother, James Clyde Whicker; 5 grandchildren, Katie, Kelsey and Kourtney Whicker, Taylor and Tyler Grinstead and his loving pet Tiffany.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Ernest Ferrell will officiate. Burial with military rites will be held in the Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Bell, Bill Abernathy, Ken Cook, Bill Maness, Buzz Griggs and Don Miller.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home, 11 Burgess Court in Hillsborough.
