GRANVILLE- Mr. Connie Earl Wright, 68, of Stem died on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Granville County Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer.A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, November 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Olive Branch Baptist Church in Durham with the Rev. Tim Wheeler officiating. Visitation with the family will be at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.Connie was born January 2, 1944 in Coats, N.C. to the late Ernest Wright and Elector Johnson Wright. He spent his childhood in Raleigh and most of his adult life in Durham. He retired as the owner and operator of Wright’s Towing Company with his son Chris, but in a varied career, he was an independent builder, a professional firefighter for the Town of Morrisville and served as a volunteer firefighter in Durham County.A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Connie is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy Ray Wright, three sons, Todd (Renee) of Raleigh; Kenny of Oxford and Chris of Stem; two brothers, Ernest or Rougemont and Linwood (Joyce) of Oxford; one sister, Marie Jefferys (Grady) of Raleigh; seven grandchildren, Kenny, Timothy, Brandon, Dylan, Hannah, Hailey and Walker, two step-grandchildren, Sarah Martin and Jessica Martin, one great-grandchild, Leigha Grace Wright, several nieces and nephews, and a beloved dog Hershey.
