Constance Elizabeth Chappell

Elizabeth Chappell, 81, of Durham, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021.  She was born on January 1, 1940 in Durham, NC to the late Owen and Lucy Raynor.

Elizabeth graduated from Southern High School in 1958. Soon after graduating she began to work for GTE until her retirement in 1993 as an Accountant after 35 years of service.

Elizabeth was a wonderful and fun loving woman who enjoyed her flowers in the garden, decorating for the holidays but most of all spending time with her family.  She also enjoyed shopping on QVC whether it was to buy a nice gift for herself or something useful for someone else. Elizabeth loved animals and at a young age had a horse but most of all she loved her dog Mollie. She also liked playing computer games and watching western movies. Elizabeth was always excited to take a trip to the mountains or the beach.  She will be remembered as a loyal, loving, caring, forgiving and fair minded wife, mother, sister and grandmother who will always be remembered and very deeply missed.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Winston H. Chappell, and sister, Marcia Gunter.

Elizabeth is survived by her son, Mark Chappell (Christy); daughter, Connie Bradshaw; sister, Janet Tilley; grandsons, Joshua and Nicholas Chappell; loving dog, Mollie and numerous other family members and friends.

Masks are required to be worn in the funeral home and asked to be worn at the cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 22, 2021 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Hudson Funeral Home.  A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 3712 Cheek Rd., Durham, NC 27703.  The Dr. Gerald Goodwin will officiate.
