Daphine Murray Tingen

DURHAM Mrs. Daphine Murray Tingen, 89, of Durham, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015.
Mrs. Tingen was born in Spring Hope, the daughter of the late George Savannah Murray and Mecie Strickland Murray. She retired from the American Tobacco Company. She attended the Abundant Life Church and was a very spiritual woman who cared for everyone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Talmadge Tingen; son, Alvin Tingen; brothers, Nelson and George Murray; sisters, Ruby, Evelyn and Betty Murray, Eula Pollock and Christine Massey.
She is survived by her son, Roger Tingen of Durham; sister, Annie Byrd of Durham and 27 nieces and nephews on the Murray side.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Willie Teachey will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jeff Murray, Sheriff Mike Andrews, Nicolas McLamb, Ronnie Gower, Josh Brown and Brian Porter.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.
