David "Dave" Hartless

David “Dave” Hartless, 71, of Durham, North Carolina passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023.  He was born October 24, 1951, in Montgomery County, Virginia to the late Robert Hartless, Sr. and Sylvia Hartless.

Mr. Hartless was a detailed oriented man who worked as a tool and dye maker for many years. In his younger years David enjoyed sports, one being amateur boxing.  As he got older, he liked watching sports and supporting the UVA Cavaliers. David loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.   Most of all he loved his family and adored his grandchildren.  He was known to be able to fix anything.  David’s sense of humor, kindness and his lighthearted grumpiness in his older years will be missed. 

David is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe Hartless; sister, Linda Wells; brothers-in-law, Tommy Wells and Rusty Johnson

Mr. Hartless is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Connie P. Hartless; sons, Charles “Chuck” Hartless (Danielle) and Casey Hartless (Gina); brother, Robert “Bobby” Hartless, Jr. (Laura); sisters, Sylvia “Chris” Johnson and Cindy Delaney (Andy); grandchildren, Emma Hartless, Leo Hartless, Kamden Hartless and Colin Hartless and other loving family members and friends.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date in both North Carolina and Virginia.
