Deborah Holder Hunt

Mrs. Deborah Holder Hunt, 75, of Durham passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023 at her residence.
Mrs. Hunt was born August 13, 1948, in Durham to the late Arthur Burcham Holder and Sylvia Waller Holder.
Since her childhood Deborah’s ultimate goal was to become a nurse. After graduating from Southern Durham High School in 1966, she attended East Carolina University. Her healthcare career began in 1971 after graduating from the Duke Radiology Technologist Program. After a brief stint with Duke Radiology, she was accepted to Watts School of Nursing and received her RN certification. Deborah’s educational journey culminated in 1989 at UNC Chapel Hill obtaining her BSN, achieving the Dean's List and recognition by Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Before retiring, she faithfully served 40 years within the Duke Healthcare System with the bulk of her time providing care as a Recovery Room Nurse at the Duke Eye Center.
Deborah was an avid Duke Basketball fan and a Iron Duke member for numerous years. Her true passion was traveling and frequently made excursions with her friends, the Bermuda Group. Deborah was of Methodist Faith and a member of McMannen United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, Deborah is predeceased by her sister Phyllis Holder Norris and her husband Randolph.
Deborah is survived by her husband of nearly 41 years, Charles Lewis Hunt; brothers, Larry Holder (Gracie) and Mark Holder (Becky); sisters, Shirley Jayson (Steve), and Stephanie Sue Honeycutt (Banks); as well as many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Monday November 6, 2023, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend Lisa Cole.
Pallbearers will be Lee Gibson, Gary Waller, Calvin Waller, Robin Watkins, Greg Holder and Jay Williams.
Interment will be at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
