DURHAM- Ms. Deborah Rigsbee Miller, 64, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.Ms. Miller was born November 14, 1953 in Durham, NC to the late Johnnie and Frances Rigsbee. She worked with the EPA as an Environmental Educator for 30 years. She Founded the Durham Chapter of Science Stars. Ms. Miller received the J.C. Penney Golden Rule Award for exceptional volunteer service and the Coldwell Banker Diamond Society Award and various other accolades. She volunteered building houses with Habitat for Humanity, teaching at Earth Day events and educating the community about the air pollution and feeding the needy with the Durham Rescue Mission. She also organized Stream Cleanups in Durham.Ms. Miller is preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Frances Rigsbee; brother, Donald Rigsbee.Ms. Miller is survived by her son, Thomas Miller (Demi) of Washington; daughter, Kasey Miller of Oxford, NC; sister, Donna Rigsbee Hodgman of Greensboro, NC; grandson, Oliver Miller.A visitation will be held Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2018 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Hugh O’Shields.
