Deloris Ann Wood Geercken

DURHAM Deloris Ann Wood Geercken passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at her home. She was a Durham native and the daughter of the late Lee Andrew Wood and Gennie Evelyn Hilliard. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Joseph Geercken. Mrs.Geercken retired from the medical records department at Duke University Medical Center in 1983. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and a den mother. She loved her family and her dog Gracie.

She is survived by 3 sons: Edward J. Geercken, Jr. (Gina), Edwin L. Geercken (Barbara), Mark C. Geercken (Cathy); and 2 daughters: Becky G. Holder (Mark) and Gena L. Geercken-Harp (Kendrick). She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren: Kristi, Brad, Greg (Kristin), Brandi (Bruce), Montana, Myles, Stephanie (Brian), Jennifer, Megan, Josh, Ashley (Roger), and Bryden; and 9 great-grandchildren: Christian, Keshawn, Ryan, Tyler, Chazden, Aubreigh, Hayden, Alyssa, and Kensi. The family would like to express special thanks to Duke Homecare and Hospice, especially to Chris, Jodie, and Jehanne.

A graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11 am. Rev. Genaves John Rigsbee will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday, January 2, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm at Hudson Funeral Home and at other times at Mrs. Geercken’s home, 608 Broach Rd.
