Denise “Dee Dee” Jackson Gunter

DURHAM- Mrs. Denise “Dee Dee” Jackson Gunter, 60, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2019.
Dee Dee was born December 27, 1958 to the late Lenward “Jack” and Dorothy “Dot” Jackson in Durham, NC. She was a 2007 graduate of Alamance Community College in Biotechnology and she was the owner and operator of Neecy’s Necessities. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Dee Dee is survived by her husband, William Gunter, Jr.; first husband, Everett “Buster” Walker; sons, Brent Walker (Sarah), Kyle Walker (Megan) and Joshua Walker; daughter, Ashley Crotts (Cody); step-daughter, Katherine Gunter; step-son, Greg Walker; sisters, Marian Norris (David), Joyce Miska (Jack), Linda Loftis (Butch), Susan Raynor (Bob); grandchildren, Wyatt Walker, Madalyn Walker, Liam Walker, Kaleb Walker, Kenzie Crotts and Cashwell Crotts.
Additional to Dee Dee being a remarkable mother, wife and sister, she is also remembered by family and friends as an extraordinary baker, skilled pianist, excellent artist in drawing and portraiture, and so much more. Many of her friends consisted of fellow-soap makers internationally; Dee Dee’s contribution to the community was well recognized.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Crotts, Willis Godwin, Tony Evans, Tim Truelove, Hunter Tart and Matthew Pritchett.
A visitation will be held 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home, Saturday, November 16, 2019. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Carl Belcher. A reception will follow from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Blue Note Grill, 709 Washington St, Durham, NC 27701.
