Donald Edward McKinnon

Donald Edward McKinnon, 87, passed away April 17, 2022 at Duke Regional Hospital.

Mr. McKinnon was born July 26, 1934, to the late William and Elizabeth McKinnon.  Mr. McKinnon enjoyed gardening, fishing, listening to Loretta Lynn music, eating out and telling stories from younger years.  He was known for his “quick wit” personality, especially enjoying making people laugh.  He loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Janice McKinnon; 3 Brothers and 3 Sisters.

Mr. McKinnon is survived by 3 daughters; Cindy Roberts (Vic) of Durham, NC, Shelby Barbour (Robert) of Timberlake, NC and Kelly Bennett (Eric) of Wendell, NC; 6 Grandchildren, Rebecca Roberts Pendleton (Will), Emily Roberts, Kaitlyn Tyner (Jake), Dean Clark, Samantha Barbour and Chad Barbour; 5 Great Grandchildren, Waylon, Cash, Paisley, Cailey and Dakota, and his pet “son”, Carson.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Chad Barbour, Dean Clark, Robert Barbour, Vic Roberts, Eric Bennett, and Will Pendleton.

A visitation will be held Sunday April 24, 2022 from 6 to 8 pm at Hudson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday April 25, 2022 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.

Flowers are acceptable or donations can be directed to the local Dementia organization of your choice.
