Donna Anne Ellington Brady

Mrs. Donna Anne Ellington Brady, 84, passed away on March 28, 2022.

Donna was born August 24, 1937 in Raleigh, NC, a daughter of the late Delma Donald Ellington, Jr. and Hester Anne Bass Ellington. Mrs. Brady was an active and faithful member of Dobson First Baptist Church. Donna graduated from Broughton High School in Raleigh in 1955 and graduated from Meredith College in 1959. Donna became a Spanish teacher and enjoyed serving the Spanish-speaking community in Surry County by teaching Sunday school classes in Spanish and acting as a translator. She was also an active member of Al-Anon, helping families affected by alcoholism. Donna served on the board of directors of what is now Partners Health Management, a mental health organization serving fourteen counties in North Carolina. Donna loved cats, wrote poetry, and was a talented artist. She will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brady was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Graydon Brady, Jr.; and daughter, Crystal Dale Brady Smith.

Mrs. Brady is survived by her son, Jason Lee Brady (Diana) of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Sarah Frances Brady Jackson (Cristan Zdanski) of Dobson, NC; brother, Don Ellington III (Martha) of Raleigh, NC; and granddaughter, Aleah Michelle Brady.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 4, 2022 at Historic Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh, NC.
