Donna Elaine Carr Stauffacher, 67, departed this life on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Transitions Hospice of Raleigh after a brave and arduous struggle with cancer. She was born in Durham and was a life-long resident of the Raleigh-Durham area. She graduated from Southern High School in 1967. She married Don Stauffacher in 1986. They were married for nearly twenty years prior to his death in 2005.
She began working at Reliance Insurance after graduation as a typist and worked her way up the ranks to senior underwriter. She left Reliance in 1986 to start a family.
She was an active member of Page Road Baptist Church until her health declined. She was a children’s Sunday School teacher for many years, and served on several different committees throughout her membership at the church. Some of her favorite activities were reading the Bible and attending Bible Study. She devoted herself to her family, especially her son.
Preceding her in death were her husband and her parents, Bill and Irene Carr. She is survived by her son, Wilson C. Stauffacher; her sister, Betty Farrell; her brother, Rick Carr; and her mother-in-law Hazel Stauffacher of Wisconsin. She is also survived by many brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews in both North Carolina and Wisconsin.
A visitation will occur at Hudson Funeral Home on Monday, September 21, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Page Road Baptist Church. A graveside service will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
