Donna Sorrell Rowland

Donna was born April 19, 1944, in Durham, NC to the late William Dennis Sorrell and Evelyn Carmack Sorrell.

In addition to her parents, Donna was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Beal Rowland; brothers, Edward Sorrell, Bill Sorrell, Arthur Sorrell, and Earl Mangum; sister, Mary Ella Morris; and brother-in-law, Clem Rowland.

She is survived by brothers, Ray Sorrell of Raleigh, Roy Sorrell (Sandra) of Carrollton, VA , Dennis Sorrell of Wakefield, VA, Andy Sorrell (Lyn) of Rougemont, NC, and Jerry Sorrell (Betsy) of Creedmoor, NC; sisters, Iris Smith of Wakefield, NC and Polly Garner (Kenneth) of Durham. .  She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Carrollynn Briley (Jerry), Casandra McBroom (Ralph) and Jean Rowland (Clem [decd]).

Donna was a longtime member of Angier Avenue Baptist Church until its closing. Later, she and Beal became members of Plainview Baptist Church. In her earlier years she was employed at Swift & Company, Johnson Motor Company, Nortel (27 years) and Duke Research Clinic.

A visitation will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday December 22, 2023, at Plainview Baptist Church at 5200 Cheek Road, Durham, NC. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 3712 Cheek Road, Durham, NC.

Officiating will be Reverend Bob Kerr, Pastor at Plainview Baptist Church.
