Doreen Rice Wheless

DURHAM- Mrs. Doreen Rice Wheless, 83, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017.
Mrs. Wheless was born in Franklin County, NC. She was the longtime treasurer at Immanuel Free Will Baptist Church for over 40 years and member over 50 years. Doreen was an amazing cook and she loved to take care of people, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a caring and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who selflessly served the people around her.
Mrs. Wheless is preceded in death by her parents Willie and Etta Rice.
Mrs. Wheless is survived by her husband of 64 years, Wiloughby “W.C” Charlie Wheless; sons, Terry Wheless (Marcia), Danny Wheless (Sue); brothers, Weldon “Bo” Rice (Alma), John Rice (Betty Sue); granddaughters, Stephanie Wheless Willett (Nolan), and Tiffaney Wheless; grandson, Jeremy Wheless (Jessica), five great-grandchildren, and our other loving family members.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday January 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel Free Will Baptist Church 1956 Ellis Road Durham, NC 27703. Officiating will be Pastor Jim Turnbough. A visitation will be held Saturday January 21, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Burial services will be private.
