Doris Ann Fields Isles died at home on 13 March 2012. Born in Kinston, NC on 22 February 1948, she was the daughter of the late William Wayne Fields.Doris moved with her family to Durham at the young age of four. After her graduation from Southern High School, Doris went to work for the Federal Government. She retired from the Veterans Administration after 28 years of Federal service. She also worked with the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences for 16 years.Doris never forgot her friends and was always there to help them in time of need. Doris was a Christian and had a strong belief in God. All her family and friends were remembered in her daily prayers. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Mervyn (Joe) Isles of Durham who was the love of her life; daughters, Heather Larnach and husband Scott of Edinburgh, Scotland; Kristie Hayes and husband Gregory and grandchildren, Lauren and Andrew Hayes of Charleston, SC; brother, Ronnie Fields and wife Susan of Oxford, NC; sisters, Carolyn McEvers and husband Michael of Ocoee, FL; Linda Martin and husband Jim of Buies Creek, NC; mother, Frances Morton of Oxford, NC; special Mom, Frances Fields of Snow Hill, NC and several step brothers /sister, nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held graveside at 2pm on Saturday, 17 March 2012 at Markham Memorial Garden Cemetery. Rev Dan Hill will lead the service. In lieu of flowers and in honor of the wonderful care and support provided, memorials in Doris’ memory may be made to Duke HomeCare & Hospice, Office of Development, 4321 Medical Park Drive, Suite 101, Durham, NC 27704.
