DURHAM Mrs. Doris McFarland Ray, 90, of Durham, died on Sunday, April 22, 2012. She passed away on the same date as her husband 18 years ago.Mrs. Ray was a native of Chatham County. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and a special friend to many as well as a great Christian Lady. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack B. Ray, her parents, Marvin and Ina Bell, brothers, Robert Upchurch Canada and Raymond Franklin Canada and a sister, Della Mae Williams.She is survived by her daughters, Donna Roberson and husband, Bob of Youngsville, Gloria Ray Hicks and husband, Al of Cary; grandchildren, Steve Mann, Tonia Brantley, Heather Burns, Jeremy Roberson, Jenna Hicks and Michael Hicks; great-grandchildren, Carley Brantley, Chase Brantley, Dillon Burns, Peyton Burns, Riley Burns and many nieces and nephews.A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jack Cox. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m., before the service at Hudson Funeral Home. Flowers are acceptable.
