DURHAM- Mrs. Dorothea Andrews Dutton, 91, passed away on December 14, 2021.
Mrs. Dutton was born March 27, 1930 to the late Lawrence and Ida Andrews in Brunswick County, N.C. Dorothea lived in Hamlet, N.C. her entire life and was a faithful member of East Rockingham United Methodist Church. She then moved to Durham, N.C. in 2014. She retired from Avondale Textile Mills after 40 years. Dorothea had a positive spirit and believed everyone had good in them. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be deeply missed by everyone blessed to have known her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dutton is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Dutton; sisters, Clauda Mae Smith and Bipsy Inman.
She is survived by her son, Gerald Dutton (Diane); brother, Floyd Andrews (Priscilla); grandchildren, Jeremy Dutton (Rachel), Justin Dutton (Mandy); step-grandchildren, Jamie Wrenn, Casey Wrenn (Kasey Lynn); great-grandchildren, MaKinna Atkins, Jerrin Dutton, Landon Dutton, and Sophie Dutton; and step-great-grandchildren, Evelynn Wrenn and Owen Wrenn.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 18, 2021 at East Rockingham United Methodist Church with a visitation held an hour prior from 12:00 -1:00 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Jimmy Hall. Burial will follow at Richmond County Memorial Park Cemetery. Anyone unable to attend the service are welcome to view and sign the registry book today, Friday, December 17, until 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to East Rockingham United Methodist Church, 490 Mill Rd, Rockingham, NC 28379.
