Dorothy Godwin Britt

Dorothy Mae Godwin Britt, 100, of Durham, North Carolina went to be with her Lord on July 25, 2024. She was born in Johnston County, NC to the late Donnie Ralph Godwin and Bertie Dixon Godwin.

In addition to her parents Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Clee Foster Britt; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Wilson, and son Wayne Foster Britt; brothers, Donnie Godwin, and Arthur Godwin; sister, Evelyn Pendergraph. 

Dorothy is survived by her two children Ronnie Hal Britt (Bonnie), and Donald Ray Britt (Guadalupe) both of Durham. She also has seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Dorothy worked at the Ivy Room Restaurant on West Main Street in Durham, North Carolina for 30 years. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Durham, North Carolina for over 35 years. She was a member of the Ladies’ Bible Class. Dorothy loved the Lord, her family, and friends, and was a Prayer Warrior.

A visitation will be held Wednesday July 31, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Scott Gray and Brother Randy Youmans. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Britt, Eric Burkall, Andrew Burkall, Colton Tilley, Alan Tilley, Rodney Teasley, and Camden Britt.

Honorary Pallbearers are Gary McCorkle, Derek Ketner and Ken McCormick.

Flowers are acceptable.
