DURHAM- Mr. Dwight Thomas Ferrell, 94, of Durham died on Sunday, April 7, 2013, He was the son of the late Eddie Lee Ferrell and Pauline Burgess Ferrell. He served in the U.S. Army, World War II in the Philippines. He retired after 37 years from American Tobacco as a machinist. He was a Charter member of Shady Grove FWB Church, taught Adult Sunday School Class for twenty five years, Deacon for thirty years and also a Choir member. He was preceded in death by his wife Pattie Adams Ferrell, two sisters, Clara Phipps and Swanie Knapp. He is survived by his daughter Lou Ferrell Hicks (Gene) of Durham; one sister, Fadene Woods of Durham; two grandchildren, Allen Raynor (Smith) and Steve Raynor, three great-grandchildren, Brinkley Raynor, Chip Raynor and Woody Raynor, step-grandchildren, Deborah Ferrell and Barry Hicks, step great grandchildren, Ashley and Michael Ferrell.Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Shady Grove FWB Church. Rev. Joe Haas and Rev. Jonathan Sexton will officiate. Burial will be in Shady Grove Church Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Lewis Adams, Jerry Adams, Floyd Pearce, J. W. Harris, Bunny Finch, Kermit Riggs, Terry Ketner and Earl Woods.Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenneth Bigham, Larry Sorrell, Jimmy Cole, Chip Raynor, Woody Raynor, Michael Ferrell and Ken Ferrell.The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.
