Dwight Edward Watkins

Dwight Edward Watkins, 71, of Hurdle Mills, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024 with his family by his side. He was born April 29, 1953 in Durham, NC to the late Eugene and Virginia Watkins.

In addition to his parents Dwight is preceded in death by his brothers, James, Leon and Jerry Watkins and his sisters, Irene Watkins and Katie Jackson.

Mr. Watkins retired from Zoetis as a Facilities Technician after many years of dedicated service.  Dwight was a fearless thrill seeker who enjoyed riding his motorcycle, ziplining and anything adventurous while traveling.  He was a true man who could fix anything and was always willing to give the shirt off his back to help someone. 

Dwight was known for many wonderful qualities but especially for his comical and boisterous personality that would light up any room.  He will be remembered as an amazing husband, wonderful father, best brother and great friend.

Mr. Watkins is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Karyn Watkins; daughter, Stacy W. McClure (Mack); sister, Nancy Johnson; grandchildren, Britney Prince, Devin Hoffman (Helena), Jamie Vaughan, Jr (Jessie), Jackson Herritt, Macy Herritt and Austin Davis; great grandchildren, Hazel and Charley Vaughan and other loving family members and friends.

A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 3712 Cheek Rd., Durham, NC 27703. The Rev. Hugh O’Shields will officiate.  The family will receive friends prior to the graveside at Hudson Funeral Home, 211 S. Miami Blvd., Durham, NC 27703 from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Jamie Vaughan, Jr., Devin Hoffman, Jackson Herritt, Austin Davis, Ryan Harris, Jacob Fish, Eddie Givens and Connor Folsom.
